To create USB Bootable iso without any software we will use Command Prompt as a Window default program. By following these simple steps you can create a USB Bootable. For Bootable USB we required a USB with 4GB minimum capacity. Larger Capacity is better. At this moment, I am using 8 GB flash drive.
Step 1: Using DISKPART Command
1- Connect your USB to your computer. As the first step, we need to run the Command Prompt as administrator. Type ‘cmd’ in the search box on Windows Start Menu. Right Click on the result and select “Run as Administrator”.
2- Type ‘diskpart’ on Command Prompt and press Enter. Wait until the DISKPART program run.
3- Type ‘list disk’ to view active disks on your computer and press Enter. There would be active disks shown as Disk 0 that is your hard drive and Disk 1 that is your USB flash drive with its total capacity.
4- Type ‘select disk 1’ and hit Enter. This will select your USB that is going to become bootable.
5- Type ‘clean’ and press Enter. That will remove all of the data on the USB drive.
6- Type ‘create partition primary’ and hit Enter. This will create a primary partition in USB drive further recognized as ‘partition 1’ by Window.
7- Type ‘select partition 1’ and hit Enter.
8- Type ‘active’ and hit Enter. This will activate the current partition.
9- Type ‘format fs=ntfs quick’ and hit Enter. This will change the format of the active partition to NTFS file system.
10- Type ‘exit’ and hit Enter. This will close DISKPART but don’t close the Command Prompt. We would use it in next process.
Step-2: Creating Boot Sector For Bootable USB
Suppose that the flash / USB drive is the D: drive and the DVD installer located on drive f: The first step, we will navigate Command Prompt to set installation DVD as its active directory.
1- By default, Command Prompt’s active directory for Administrator permission is on C:\Windows\System32>. We will navigate Command Prompt to set on DVD (F:) as its active directory. Just type ‘f:’ and hit Enter.
2- Type ‘cd boot’ and hit Enter. This will change the active directory to F:\boot>.
3- Type ‘bootsect/nt60 d:’ and hit Enter. This will create a boot sector on D: drive (Flash Drive).
4-Type ‘exit’ and hit Enter to close the Command Prompt. Boom you have successfully created a USB bootable and the flash drive is ready to use.
Step 3: Copying Installation Files
Now we just have to copy whole installation files from the DVD to flash drive. To do this, open the Command Prompt and type “xcopy f:\*.* d:\” and then press Enter. Wait till all the files copied to the flash drive. Now you can use this bootable USB for installing Window.
Note: This process can be used to make a bootable USB of any window I.e. window 7, window 8, window 10 and also Linux. This is the only one-time process. You don’t have to do this again and again until you format your USB.
